Saltillo Tile has been used for centuries for those who like the atmosphere of warmth Mediterranean and Mexican styles. The Saltillo tile with different shapes portrays special effects and forms, and original designs in colors. The hand made process has been kept for centuries. The sheets of clay are pressed, molded and they are sun-air dried. At last they are sent to the kilns to finish the process.

Please note that Saltillo tiles have the following special characteristics:

• Saltillo tiles have chipped edges.
• Saltillo tiles have little craters.
• Saltillo tiles are not all the same size.
• Saltillo tiles are not all the same thickness.
• Saltillo tiles are not all flat.
• Saltillo tiles are not all square.
• Saltillo tiles have occasional cracks on the surface.
• Saltillo tiles have an occasional animal prints. (To have one of this you have to be lucky).
• Saltillo tiles are not all the same color. (They even vary in shading in the same tile).
• Saltillo tiles are prone to have alkali in the clay. To eliminate problems they must be properly sealed and kept sealed.

• Saltillo tiles are sold "as is" and are not refundable for any reason.

These are not defects; they are what make the Saltillo tiles so attractive. Raw Saltillo tiles are very crude looking, but after they are installed, grouted, and sealed are very attractive. When properly sealed Saltillo tiles they are easy to maintain and they will literally last forever.
